quigonkick Can't pick just one track. This is one of those potent gems that one does cartwheels over when discovered.

If Brian Eno and Ennio Morricone collaborated on an album, this would be the result. Wonderfully minimalist that somehow cuts to the chase and leaves you hanging. In a good way.

Please let this be the first of many albums like this!

And for once, the book can be judged by it's cover. I'm not sure I've ever seen an album cover that fits the music better than this. BRILLIANT!

about

After misplacing his band in an ill-conceived teleportation experiment, t.k. bollinger retreated to the sweet isolation of his studio to summon forth more of the ghosts that haunted him. What emerged is this collection of slow, delicately arranged songs that speak of sorrow and loss, dementia and decay, fog and fear. Oh happy day!
The songs were arranged around 4 and 8 bar acoustic guitar chord patterns. Any development in the melody is left to Bollinger’s voice, which hatches musical themes reminiscent of heartrending Soul and dark Gregorian chant, as well as the lengthy doom tinged guitar solos which soar and plummet between the verses. This gives this music the impression of some ambling, yet beautiful, musical monster pieced together from inspiration, Bollinger freely admits, gleaned from Jason Molina’s sparse acoustic master piece “Let me go, Let me go, Let Me Go”, Gothic Country, Doom Metal and the soaring solos from Sigur Rós’ beautiful Ágætis Byrjun. A creature searching for answers to the eternal question, “why does suffering exist?” No clear answers emerge, other than we must keep walking and enjoy the brief insights and the occasional ray of hope that helps us to summon forth compassion for the shy ghosts that hide in our shadows.

about

t.k. bollinger Melbourne, Australia

A connoisseur of dark moods and plaintive melodies, t.k. bollinger is an explorer on the road less travelled. His musical children are songs of contrite and emotionally challenged characters confessing their darkest fears and tortured realisations.
They speak of the usual things – love, abuse, neglect and the small triumphs and tiny truths that gleen in our day to day growth and survival.
